2010 theatre workshops

We run a two hour theatre workshop for school parties.

During the workshop we teach the students about stage lighting, sound equipment, make-up and special effects in a fun, informal and interactive fashion. We also show them around the working theatre so they can learn about the stage, the wings, backstage and the dressing rooms.

As well as the talks we also teach the children a short show involving singing, dancing and narration which they all perform on the stage at the end of the session. After the show the pupils can sit back and watch what they have done on our big screen as we record their show which is then passed on to the teachers as a DVD.

The workshops are fun, informative and a great introduction to the theatre.

theatre workshop dates

Workshops run every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 9.30, 12.00 and 2.30 between Tuesday 13th May and Thursday 15th July.

Many schools have told us that our theatre workshop was the highlight of their week on the Isle of Wight.

2010 Kids Show

Isle of Wight Stage School :: Stage by Stage :: Theatre Workshops, Acting, Singing, Dancing

The 2010 show for visiting school parties is called 'Epic'. It is a story about a new quest sent form the Greek gods. It's Homer's 'Odyssey' if the Homer in question is Homer Simpson. The show will feature professional actors and singers performing the best pop songs of the year with a funny story cram packed with laughs, special effects and skeletons.

For the past 15 years these shows have been getting more and more popular (we performed the kids show to over 8,000 people in 2009) so book early to avoid disappointment. So to guarantee your pupils the best time on the Island book your party into 'Epic'.

The dates for the kids show are as follows. May 12th 8.30. May 19th and May 26th 6.30 and 8.30. June 2nd 6.30 only. June 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th and July 7th 6.30 and 8.30 and July 14th 6.30 only.

2010 Family Show

This year's family show is called 'Dead End Kids'. It is based on the true story of children growing up in London during the blitz. Bored of staying in underground shelters and desperate to help with the war effort a group of brave children decide to put out small fires and incendiary devices that the main fire brigade don't have time to extinguish. Everything is going well until one night during a particularly fierce raid tragedy strikes. This musical is exciting, funny, poignant and educational (without it feeling educational). Starring a cast of mosty children with a few professional actors in the lead parts this will be a perfect show for school parties.

Dead End Kids dates are Tuesdays at 8.15 from 18th May until 13th July.
